Book Report - Humans of New York: Stories
What started as a simple photography blog grew into a movement. Over 15 million people follow Humans of New York (HONY) in one form or another. He is extremely active on social media, and that is likely where you have encountered him in one form or another. I was just gifted Brandon Stanton’s second book.
If you are not familiar with HONY, Brandon Stanton tells stories.
Pairing photographs with short interviews, Stanton has been able to effectively tell a very moving story. For this book, it is a dedicated effort to tell the stories of the variety of people who live, exist and thrive everyday.
The book itself is beautiful. A hefty book of rich photographs paired with an excerpt of his interview with the subject, creating a succinct but strangely complete portrait of a person. Each page is a different subject, and is extremely snackable, yet satisfying.
